26 lb of carbon in a 3 inch bed. Airpura builds this model for "airborne chemicals and VOCs from common household products". It helps reduce those smells. No carbon filter removes every chemical.

Airpura sizes it for up to 2,000 sq ft, with two full air changes an hour at 8 ft ceilings. The fan moves up to 560 cubic feet a minute with no filters in. It measures 35 dB on low and 62 dB on high at 6 feet: quiet on low, loud on top speed.

23 inches high and 15 inches wide. It sits on casters, so it can run day and night in one room and then roll to the next. The body is powder coated steel, and the filter chamber seals with felt gaskets, not rubber. The all metal housing ensures no plastic vapors are emitted, and it makes no ozone.

Change the carbon every 24 months and the HEPA Barrier and pre-filter every 12 months. Power costs about $0.27 a day on medium, running day and night. For home use, it is backed by Airpura's 5 year parts and labor warranty, then labor only up to year 10.

great for newly renovated home

Purchased this purifier after moving into a newly renovated apartment and experiencing breathing difficulties due to the chemical offgassing. I found it very helpful, especially with fumes from the new carpeting. It would be great if the unit had some kind of indicator of when the filter must be changed, though. In my experience (probably due to using it in an environment with higher than average levels of chemicals) the filter did need to be replaced earlier than within 24 months, but the only way I was able to tell that was when it began producing an odor and seemed to be offgassing what it had previously adsorbed. I would have preferred to replace the filter before this started happening. Otherwise a great unit.

Great Household Air Filter

We've had this purifier for 3 years and have loved it. We are not MCS but are sensitive to household chemicals from cleaners, carpets, paint, etc. We can tell when the filter is going, it works that well. Works for cooking smells as well.
