Austin Air Replacement Filters
Austin Air filters by machine, colour and part number.
Austin Air filters by machine, colour and part number.
Which Austin Air do you own, and is it black or white?
Those two answers pick the part. Austin Air ships the same filter in two colors under two part numbers, so the color is not cosmetic, it is the SKU.
How to order the right one
- Machine name, then part number. HealthMate is FR400A and FR400B. HealthMate Plus is FR450. Bedroom Machine is FR402A/B. Immunity Machine is FR444A/B. The Junior sizes run FR200, FR205A/B and FR250A/B.
- Pre-filters are the cheap, frequent part. Austin Air Standard Pre-Filter (F400A/B) for the full size cabinets, F200A/B for the Juniors, F100B or F100C for the Austin Air it.
- Interval and cost. The cartridge is designed for up to 5 years under normal residential use, with a pro-rated ladder: 40 percent off up to 2 years, down to 10 percent at 5. A heavy smoke or chemical load brings it round sooner, which Austin Air states in its manual.
Not for: the machine itself. Parts only here. Discontinued models are still served though, so the Austin Air Pet Machine Filter (FR410) and the Allergy Machine filter (FR405) are both on this shelf.

How to choose in four steps
-
1. Room size
Measure the room, then match the sq ft
Length times width. Match that to the sq ft in the product name. Go one size up for open plan rooms or high ceilings.
Under 400 sq ft: bedroom or office. 400 to 999: living room. 1000 plus: a whole floor.
-
2. The concern
Match the filter to the problem
Allergies, dust and pet dander call for HEPA. Smoke, cooking and chemical smells call for a real bed of activated carbon. For mold and mildew, look at the HEPA air scrubbers, some add UV on top.
Use the What it is for filter to narrow the list.
-
3. Noise
Bedrooms want under 25 dB on low
The lowest speed is the one that runs all night. The quietest unit here starts at 16.5 dB on its lowest speed. Air scrubbers built for job sites run over 60 dB on high and belong in a basement or garage.
The Noise filter uses the lowest speed figure the maker publishes, or its only published figure where that is all it gives.
-
4. Running cost
Check the filter price and how often it changes
A cheaper unit with a filter every 6 months can cost more over 3 years than a pricier one changed once a year.
Where the maker publishes them, the product page shows the filter price and change interval.
