The V700 is made for VOCs and chemicals, and it is a good fit for wildfire smoke. It carries 18 lb of enhanced carbon, potassium iodide on coconut shell, in a 2 inch bed with 570 sq in of surface.

The carbon works on smells and gases. The True HEPA filter, 40 sq ft of media, is for particles, and Airpura rates that filter at 99.97 percent of particles at 0.3 microns. That is a rating of the filter itself, not a result measured in your room.

It cleans the air inside the room and does not seal it from smoke outside, so on smoky days it keeps running. The fan moves up to 635 cubic feet of air a minute with no filters in and 450 with them in, and the speed dial lets you pick the level.

29 dB on low and 63 dB on high, measured at 6 feet, and the 700 series is made for a peaceful night.

Powder coated steel with felt gaskets, 23 in high, 15 in wide, on casters. Change the carbon every 24 months, the HEPA every 3 years (range 3 to 5 years) and the pre-filter every 12 months. Airpura rates it for rooms up to 2,500 sq ft at 2 air changes an hour with 8 ft ceilings. It also handles chemicals from paint, carpets, vinyl, heating fuels and ammonia. Ozone emissions: none.
