It reduces what is in the room. It does not seal the room. The Pro 6 HDS is built for smoke in larger rooms: tobacco, cigars, wood smoke and wildfire smoke, plus buildings that permit smoking. When the smoke keeps arriving, the filters load faster, and a dirtier space means changing them more often.

A tar-trapping pre-filter catches the sticky tar particles and keeps the main filters from clogging. A 3.5 inch activated carbon filter works on second-hand smoke, chemicals, fumes and odors. The tall body is built to hold the carbon, with 3,500 acres of carbon surface. A Super HEPA filter takes fine particles, rated by AllerAir at 99.99 percent of particles at 0.1 microns on the media.

The fan is variable speed and moves 560 CFM. Noise runs from 39 to 60 dB, and a 735 CFM motor upgrade is available on request.

23.5 in high and 15 in across, 52 lb in use, on four 2 inch wheels with an 8 ft cord. The body is metal with a powder coat. The Pro 6 line is rated by AllerAir for rooms up to 2,000 sq ft.

Replace the filters when you notice dust build up or odor, as AllerAir advises. A version with a UV lamp is also offered.

A heavy filter like that should have handles

A heavy filter like that should have handles. It was more difficult to install than it should be. There is nothing to grab on to while you are setting it into the unit.

noisy and heavy but clean air

I do like the smell of the air around it. It is very noisy even on low. It is heavy and was not perfectly easy to put together — hard to line up the lower lid for the screws.
