airpura-uv700
Airpura UV700 Air Purifier, Mold and Musty Air, UVC Lamp, 18 lb Carbon, 635 CFM

Basement, crawl space, after the leak

Keeping the air fresh in a basement is one of the jobs the UV700 is built for.

Will it fix a mold problem?

No machine does. A purifier cleans what is in the air. The damp is the source, so fix the water first, then clean the air. Its true HEPA filter captures mold spores from the air passing through. That is the air, not the walls, floor or crawl space.

Will it deal with the smell too?

Yes, that is the carbon's job. 18 lb of coconut shell carbon in a 2 inch bed adsorbs chemicals, VOCs, gases and odors. It helps reduce a smell. No carbon filter removes every chemical. A 40 sq ft true HEPA filter catches fine dust and pollen. Airpura also fits a UV-C lamp inside; we list it as a part, not as a claim.

How fast, and how loud

The 700 series motor is the quieter, stronger one: it moves 635 cubic feet a minute free flow and 450 with the filters in. It measures 29 dB on low and 63 dB on high at 6 feet: quiet on low, loud on top speed.

Can it run through the job, then move?

23 inches high and 15 inches wide. It sits on casters with a variable speed dial, so it can run day and night in one room and then roll to the next. The body is powder coated steel, and the filter chamber seals with felt gaskets, not rubber. The all metal housing ensures no plastic vapors are emitted, and it makes no ozone.

Filters, running cost and warranty

Change the carbon every 24 months, the HEPA every 3 years (range 3 to 5 years) and the pre-filter every 12 months. The warranty does not cover filters or the UV lamp. Power costs about $0.27 a day on medium, running day and night. For home use, it is backed by Airpura's 5 year parts and labor warranty, then labor only up to year 10.
